An Idea of Responsibility

Post by MasterSamWise » Mon Oct 08, 2007 12:10 am

Responsibility in definition denotes duty and obligation, acts of being or doing things which must be done in order to avoid certain consequence. Societal circumstance presents infinity of elements which we may feel responsible for in life. I.e. our adherence to rules and regulations, working to make money, looking after another, paying bills, carrying out chores, exercising certain behavioural etiquette, and on and on, and with expectation and concern from others quite often involved too.

So along with the psycho emotional bindings that come with duty and obligation characterised as responsibility, we can also place ourselves under control of authority, dutifully reacting to procedure or expectation, and wary of consequence.

Responsibility is a mind field of psycho emotional entrapment, with varying degrees of inner-outer conflict and confusion abound, it also serves to stifle purity of expression. But of course it doesn’t have to be any of this way, especially not for the spiritual initiate.

Take a moment to ponder the many things that we carry out or do naturally on a regular basis and of which we never look upon as being a responsibility. Some of these things may take more of our time and effort than it does to take care of even the most prominent of so called responsibility. Note the difference in attitude in relation to the conditions, and understand that no matter how circumstances are presented, it always comes down to our own individual attitude towards the conditions which characterises the very idea of responsibility.

It’s in this the very idea itself where conflict and resistance resides, a barrier of non acceptance, sometimes very subtle, generated between us and the circumstance, the actuality of what is. And to continue any undertaking of duty and obligation for fear of consequence, especially in relation to the expectations of any other, is to lock our inner most selves up for the duration in a prison cell of denial and give away the key. This no matter the size or scale of responsibility as the dynamic is every bit the same even under the most seemingly insignificant basis.

Responsibility however can be transformed into a natural element or practicality of our own life manifestation; the inner conflict of originating idea transcended in any conscious moment and with it the need for even the word or definition of responsibility. A deep sense of joy and fulfilment can arise, though such transformation requires full appreciation of the circumstance through wholehearted acceptance and a willingness or enthusiasm to open up to it (life) and to give it all of what we are. This not found through any aspect of doing but from a doing arising naturally from a quality of being.

To observe totally beyond our own idea is the beginning of true objectivity and the ending of conflict.

And to fully understand through depth of introspection that we are not separate from the cause of circumstance or of any practical manifestation which appears directly in our own life is to gain deeper awareness of the continual emergence of life itself, and also our own ability to both create and interact with the creation through conscious acumen, and of course without need for duty and obligation or fear of consequence.
